Project promises green power
China Three Gorges Corp said it started building a pumped storage power station in Northwest China's Qinghai province on Saturday. It will have the largest installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts as well as the largest regulated storage capacity in the world's highest ultra-high altitude area (above 3,500 meters). The station will further tap the abundant clean energy resources in the region, and is estimated to replace about 4.63 million metric tons of standard coal once operational.
