PAKISTAN
2 security personnel hurt in terror attack
Two security personnel were injured in an attack in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan Province on Sunday, local media and officials said. The incident happened in Gwadar district where a convoy was attacked by terrorists. Babar Yousafzai, spokesman for the Balochistan provincial government, said an operation against the terrorists was underway. The proscribed armed group Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack. China's Consulate General in Karachi strongly condemned the attack and demanded that the Pakistani side severely punish the perpetrators and take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects.

Saudi Arabia names 1st envoy to Palestine
Saudi Arabia on Saturday named Naif bin Bandar Al-Sudairi as the kingdom's first ambassador to Palestine, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. During their meeting at the embassy of Palestine in Jordan, Majdi al-Khalidi, Palestinian presidential adviser for diplomatic affairs, received a copy of the credentials of Al-Sudairi as a nonresident ambassador to Palestine, WAFA said. Al-Sudairi will also serve as consul general in Jerusalem, it said.

2,000 evacuated from flooded areas
More than 2,000 people, including 405 children, had been evacuated from flooded areas of Primorsky Krai of Russia's Far East, emergency officials said on Sunday. Heavy downpours flooded villages in the region in the aftermath of Typhoon Khanun, prompting 21 municipalities to declare a state of emergency. The remnants of the storm were slated to bring double the monthly rainfall to some areas of the region over the weekend, Russian state media reported.
