7 dead, 4 rescued after river surge in Sichuan
Seven people died and four were rescued when a surge of river water hit Ya'an, Sichuan province, on Wednesday morning, according to the local government. Eleven people were taking photos in the middle of Longxi River where fish scale-shaped semicircle dams are built in Yucheng district when they were swept away, the district government said in a statement. Among the four people who were rescued, one was injured and the other three were unharmed. The city's water resources bureau and meteorological bureau jointly issued a yellow-level warning for mountain flooding at 5:20 pm on Tuesday. The warning stated that in the next 24 hours, there was a relatively high possibility of mountain torrents in some areas of Yucheng district and six other regions.
8 sentenced for selling celebrities' information
A district court in Guangdong province convicted and sentenced eight people for selling the personal information of celebrities, the Foshan Intermediate People's Court said on Wednesday. Five of them were employees at high-speed rail stations who took advantage of their positions to sell the personal information of celebrities, including their travel information and ID numbers. Three others then sold on the information. From 2019, the group made profits of over 560,000 yuan ($78,000). The prison sentences ranged up to three years and nine months. All were fined 567,530 yuan and ordered to delete the information they gained through illegal means and also publicly apologize.
Ultralarge container ship delivered
An ultralarge container ship named OOCL Felixstowe, was delivered to Orient Overseas Container Line on Tuesday by a shipyard in Dalian, Liaoning province. With a total length of 400 meters, a width of 61.3 m and a height of 75 m, the vessel can accommodate 24,188 standard containers. It is designed with greatly improved operational efficiency and caters to the green, low-carbon and intelligent development trend in the shipping industry. The ship's maximum load capacity of 228,000 metric tons also makes it among the world's largest container ships, according to its manufacturer, Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering. The container ship is the fourth such vessel received by OOCL and will be put into use in the Asia-Europe services operated by the company.
