Yunnan sees export boom in farm products

In the first half, the export value of agricultural products from Southwest China's Yunnan province exceeded 6.8 billion yuan ($952.6 million), ranking first in the western region of China, according to Kunming Customs. During the period, the export value of both fresh-cut flowers and coffee beans ranked tops nationwide. The export value of fruits and vegetables from Yunnan ranked third and fourth in China, respectively, and the export destinations were mainly ASEAN countries, according to Customs authorities. In the first quarter, Yunnan ranked first in the country in terms of overall export clearance time.

Marine industry posts strong recovery

The marine economy in China continued to experience strong recovery momentum in the first half, said the Ministry of Natural Resources. The country's gross marine economy output grew 6 percent year-on-year to 4.7 trillion yuan ($658.1 billion) in the first six months, accelerating from the 5.1 percent growth registered in the first quarter. The first-half output of offshore crude oil and natural gas increased by 5.1 percent and 7.2 percent from a year ago, respectively. With the decommissioning of old ships and the introduction of international mandatory emission reduction policies, demand for new ships soared during the period, buoying shipbuilding business performance.

International digital economy expo coming

An international digital economy expo will be held from Sept 6 to 8 in Shijiazhuang, the capital of North China's Hebei province. The China International Digital Economy Expo 2023 will focus on the development of the industrial internet, according to the information office of the provincial government. The expo will feature forums and international cooperation activities, and nearly 400 people will be invited from leading enterprises, venture capital funds and research organizations, among other institutions. More than 30 sideline forums will focus on sectors such as digital finance and artificial intelligence, and on specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products. A report on the development of China's digital economy will also be released at the expo.
