Huawei releases new HarmonyOS

Shenzhen, Guangdong province-based Huawei Technologies Co officially released a new version of its self-developed operating system on Friday, as the telecom equipment and smartphone maker accelerates its push to cut reliance on foreign technologies and build its own software ecosystem. Compared to the previous version, HarmonyOS 4 is 20 percent more fluent in operation and can save battery power by 30 minutes, the company said. The number of devices equipped with HarmonyOS has reached 700 million, with 2.2 million developers developing mobile applications for smartphones, tablets and smartwatches based on the operating system.

Wuhan builds Asia's longest metro loop

Central China's Hubei province is building the second-longest subway loop in the world and the longest of its kind in Asia in its provincial capital of Wuhan. Wuhan Metro Line 12, partially built by China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd, is 59.9 kilometers long with two sections — Wuchang and Jiangbei (north of the Yangtze River). The entire metro line, with 37 stations, links three central areas of Wuhan and connects Wuhan's seven key urban areas — Hanyang, Qiaokou, Jianghan, Jiang'an, Qingshan, Hongshan and Wuchang — which enables transfers across other metro lines in the city.

CR24 pushes project amid harsh weather

China's infrastructure projects charge ahead despite extreme weather as State-owned builders ramp up supplies and assistance for on-site employees at projects nationwide. China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp, a China Railway Construction Corp unit, said its team on an overpass project in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, is progressing steadily toward its scheduled completion, as the company rolls out various measures, such as flexible working shifts during extreme weather conditions, such as scorching heat and torrential rains. In addition, special supplies, such as medical equipment and food and beverages, were available at booths established on construction sites.
