China's fuel surcharge on air tickets rises

China's fuel surcharge on air tickets is expected to rise for the first time this year, with a minimum of 30 yuan ($4.19) per one-way trip from Aug 5, The Paper reported on Tuesday.
The fuel surcharge will be 30 yuan per adult passenger for routes below 800 km (inclusive), and 60 yuan per adult passenger for routes above 800 km, starting from Aug 5, 2023 (ticket issuance date).
Travelers who plan to travel in August can save 10/30 yuan in fuel surcharges by booking tickets before Aug 5 as the current fuel surcharge for the two distance range are 20 and 30 yuan respectively.
On Feb 5 last year, airlines resumed the imposition of fuel surcharges on domestic routes, which were divided into 10 yuan and 20 yuan two categories.
Fuel surcharges continued to rise every month until Aug 5 last year. After the charging standard was raised on July 5 last year, the fuel surcharge rose to 100/200 yuan, which was the highest charging standard since China began to levy fuel surcharges in 2000.
