Ministry urges improvements in car-hailing sector
The Ministry of Transport conducted interviews with more than ten online car-hailing platforms on Wednesday, urging improved management and safeguarding of customer interests.
The platforms, including Didi Chuxing, were asked to strengthen corporate responsibility, effectively implement safety management measures, and ensure passenger safety.
They were instructed to standardize platform data management, enhance the security of internet service information, while also safeguarding user privacy.
Discussions indicated that the overall growth of the online car-hailing industry is steady and organized, with an ongoing improvement in compliance, and a further standardization of market practices.
However, the ministry stated that some online car-hailing platforms and aggregator platform companies have not fulfilled their corporate responsibilities. It said these companies have arbitrarily altered operating rules, infringed upon the legitimate rights and interests of passengers and operators, and disrupted the fair competition order in the market.
There exists potential risks of instability, and some individual platform companies have experienced operational safety incidents.
