Nubia launches flagship handset Z50S Pro

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia Technology has unveiled its latest flagship handset Z50S Pro with advanced cameras, in a bid to grab a bigger slice in the mid-range to high-end handset market amid intensified competition from domestic rivals.
The phone is equipped with a 6.78-inch active-matrix organic light-emitting diodes, or AMOLED display, that supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000Hz touch sampling rate.
Priced from 3,699 yuan ($514.6), the device comes with a 50-megapixel primary shooter accompanied with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies, providing a professional shooting experience for users who love photography.
Data from global market consultancy Canalys showed that 67.6 million units of smartphones were shipped in China in the first quarter of the year, down 11 percent year-on-year.
"Although there will not be a significant recovery of the Chinese smartphone market in 2023, we have observed signals of consumer confidence returning, which will be a good time for vendors to implement their latest branding and product strategies," said Amber Liu, an analyst from Canalys.
She added smartphone makers should seek further breakthroughs in hardware technology and enhance their artificial intelligence-powered algorithm capabilities.
