Conference entitled 'Argentina and BRICS in a Multipolar World' held in Argentina
The National University of San Juan (UNSJ, San Juan Province, Argentina) hosted a discussion on "Argentina and BRICS in a Multipolar World" with the participation of experts from different countries. One of the organisers was Ahora San Juan, a partner of TV BRICS in Argentina.
The participants talked about the role of BRICS countries in the global economy and the goals of the alliance, as well as discussed the prospects for Argentina's potential accession to the bloc.
The bloc now accounts for more than 40 percent of the world's population and 20 percent of global GDP. At the moment, more than 20 countries have applied to join BRICS, including Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey and Iran. For Argentina, membership in the bloc is very attractive, notes Ahora San Juan.
BRICS summit will be held in South Africa in August to discuss the accession of new members, as well as a number of other key issues, such as the creation of a single currency for BRICS countries.
