Qu Dongyu reelected as director-general
Qu Dongyu was reelected as director-general of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization on Sunday during the 43rd session of the FAO Conference. Qu was first elected in June 2019 to head the UN agency and is the first Chinese national to serve in the position. Since assuming office, Qu has actively led the FAO to address the challenges concerning global food security and contribute to the food and agricultural development of all countries, especially developing countries. His efforts have been extensively recognized by FAO member nations.

2 killed, 28 injured in Baltimore shooting
At least two people were killed and 28 wounded in a mass shooting at a street party early Sunday in the US city of Baltimore, police said. Police received multiple calls about a shooting in the city's Brooklyn neighborhood just after 12:30 am Sunday, Acting Police Commissioner Rich Worley told a news conference. The wounded were being treated at area hospitals, he added, with three of them in critical condition. An 18-year-old woman was found dead at the scene in the East Coast port city, and a 20-year-old man died after being taken to hospital, a police statement said.

25 dead after bus crashes, catches fire
A tire blowout caused a bus to lose control and crash into a road divider and burst into flames, killing 25 people in western India early on Saturday, police told local media. Police officer Sunil Kadasne told the Press Trust of India news agency that 33 people were on the bus when the crash occurred around 1:30 am on a highway in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra state. The eight survivors were taken to a hospital, he said. The private travel bus was headed to Pune city from Nagpur, another city in the state.
