Offshore wind farm uses 16 MW turbines
China completed installation on Wednesday of the world's first offshore wind farm that uses 16-megawatt turbines which is expected to become operational soon, the wind farm's operator China Three Gorges Corp said. Located in Fujian province, each 16 MW turbine is equipped with a 152-meter hub, equal to the height of a 52-storey building, and has the world's longest impeller diameter of 252 meters and the lightest per megawatt weight, according to the company.
Development zones attract foreign firms
China's national-level economic and technological development zones have attracted more than 30,000 foreign-funded companies, the Ministry of Commerce said. The country currently has 230 such development zones in 31 provincial-level regions, with more than 4 million enterprises, the ministry said at a promotional event for these zones.
