Agents blaze sales path for Gansu vegetable farmers

Agents in Wushan county of Gansu province are helping farmers sell vegetables to a broad market across China and overseas.
Farmers from Zhouzhuang village come to agent Zhou Xingfang every morning, and Zhou sells their vegetables to her clients in Gansu and Qinghai provinces and the Ningxia Hui autonomous region. During peak times, she can sell 20,000 kilograms of vegetables per day.
Virtually all 344 villages in Wushan have such agents to help tackle the challenge of selling from long distances and with few channels.
Individual agents may face problems in pricing, vegetable quality and sustainability, so local authorities founded the Luomen vegetable wholesale market, which sells about 2 million metric tons annually.
Now its vegetables are exported to Russia, Japan and the European Union.
