Passenger traffic surges

China handled 780 million passenger trips via commercial transport in April, a surge of 141.1 percent year-on-year, said the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday. Among all types of commercial transport, road trips increased 49.7 percent to 380 million, while the number of waterway trips soared 403.7 percent to 21.76 million, data from the ministry showed. A total of 8.24 billion passenger trips were made in urban areas in April, an expansion of 47.9 percent year-on-year.

Leap in hotel guests

A total of 1.1 million guests checked in to Macao's hotel establishments in April, leaping 199 percent year-on-year, Macao's statistics department said on Monday. The latest Statistics and Census Service report showed guests from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong jumped by 202.2 percent and 1,171.4 percent year-on-year to 739,000 and 254,000, respectively. The number of visitors arriving on package tours totaled 97,000 in April, while a total of 34,000 Macao residents purchased outbound services through travel agencies, surging 1,580.1 percent year-on-year.

Airline's base in Shenzhen

China Southern Airlines has started building its new base in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, with a total investment of 2.4 billion yuan ($340.84 million). With a total floor area of 338,000 square meters, the base will have facilities for flight operation, aircraft maintenance, and cargo transportation and logistics, including an international cargo terminal, workshops for flight and maintenance technological innovations, and a laboratory for passenger cabin emergency response, according to the airline.

Phoenix River Yixing opened its doors to the public on Wednesday. The new hotel operated by Wanda Hotels & Resorts is tucked away in the 400-hectare Phoenix River valley in Yixing, Jiangsu province. Featuring bamboo forests, tea plantations, winding streams and riverside views, the hotel provides an ideal venue for holidaymakers, gourmets, family tourists, outdoor enthusiasts, wedding organizers and those that enjoy leisure activities and healthcare services, its executives said.

Shenyang Fantawild Resort is staging its Bonnie Bears Children's Day running from Thursday to Sunday. On the opening day, more than 100 families took part in a parent-child run and other challenging yet fun family activities, interacted with Bonnie Bears characters and enjoyed the pleasant family get-together time, creating their own memorable moments.

To usher in the arrival of the summer season, Paulaner Brauhaus Beijing in Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Center has unveiled a new a la carte menu with more than a dozen new dishes, created by Executive Sous Chef Maik Lilienthal and Executive Chef Daniel Leibssle.
