The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative, is expected to start official operation in the third quarter of 2023. Liu Wanhuai, a senior Chinese railway engineer who has spent eight years in Indonesia on this project, shares with China Daily his story of the first high-speed railway in Southeast Asia.
