China raises gasoline, diesel retail prices
China raised the retail prices of gasoline and diesel on Wednesday, based on the recent rise in international oil prices. Gasoline and diesel prices rose by 100 yuan ($14.12) per ton and 95 yuan per ton, respectively, the National Development and Reform Commission said. The commission predicts that the international market will continue to see fluctuations over the short term.
Sci-fi industry rakes in $12.39b in 2022
The science fiction industry's revenue reached 87.75 billion yuan ($12.39 billion) in 2022, according to a report released at the China Science Fiction Convention 2023.The report focuses on the five sectors of China's sci-fi industry, including publishing, films, games, tourism and related areas. The sci-fi publishing industry pocketed 3.04 billion yuan in 2022, up 12.6 percent from the previous year, while the total box office collections of 21 sci-fi films screened last year was 8.24 billion yuan, with domestic movies accounting for 67 percent, the report showed.
Road freight volume up 17.4% in April
China's road freight volume surged 17.4 percent year-on-year in April, data from the Ministry of Transport showed. About 3.47 billion tons of road cargo were transported during the month, according to the ministry. In the first four months of the year, China's road freight volume stood at about 12.04 billion tons, up 8.4 percent from the same period last year, the data showed.
NDB issues bonds worth 8.5b yuan
The New Development Bank has issued renminbi-denominated bond of 8.5 billion yuan ($1.2 billion) on the China Interbank Bond Market. The net proceeds from the sale will be used to finance infrastructure and sustainable development activities in the bank's member countries, the NDB said.
