Country set for 3rd nationwide rail strike
Train traffic across Germany will again be paralyzed by a nationwide strike, from Sunday evening until late Tuesday, in the third such labor action this year, the Railway and Transport Union, or EVG, announced on Thursday. Rail operator Deutsche Bahn, or DB, has canceled all long-distance trains. The two previous warning strikes had lasted for half a day. After the latest round of negotiations ended without an agreement in late April, the EVG union threatened longer walkouts. DB stressed that it had agreed to a demanded increase in addition to the minimum wage of 12 euros ($13.08).
