Five remain missing after coal mine fire
Five people were still missing on Thursday morning after a fire started in a coal mine in Sanmenxia, Henan province, on Tuesday, according to company sources. All other personnel at Gengcun Mine have been safely evacuated. The fire was still burning as of 9 am on Thursday. Gengcun Mine is a subsidiary of Henan Dayou Energy Co. An expert group has arrived at the mine to discuss follow-up rescue work.
Mental health for students to improve
China's Ministry of Education and 16 other authorities have issued an action plan on enhancing mental health education at schools, colleges and universities. According to the three-year action plan, vocational schools should incorporate mental health education in their curriculums while colleges and universities should make mental health courses compulsory. It also requires primary, middle and high schools to educate students about mental health.
Tourism, expeditions barred in park areas
Tourism or expeditions are forbidden in the core protected areas of the Three-River-Source National Park, the park administration said. No organizations or individuals are allowed to enter these core areas without permission, it said on Wednesday. Those who violate the ban and cause severe damage to natural resources or the environment will face prosecution, it warned. The administration made public seven phone numbers to accept tips about violations.
