Death toll in northeast clashes stands at 60
All measures have been taken to maintain peace in the Indian state of Manipur, where 60 people were killed and 35,000 civilians were displaced in rioting and ethnic clashes last week, officials said. Chief minister N Biren Singh told reporters late on Monday that around 230 people were injured and about 1,700 houses were burned by protesters after fierce fighting broke out when members of tribal groups clashed with a nontribal group over demands of economic benefits and reservation status.

600 killed in Haiti violence last month
More than 600 people were killed last month in violence in the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince, which is in the grip of a political-economic crisis, the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Monday. The Caribbean nation has been gripped by a political and economic crisis since the July 2021 assassination of president Jovenel Moise. UN officials have for months asked the Security Council to send a specialized non-UN international armed force to help police restore order.

Former prime minister Imran Khan arrested
Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday as he appeared in a court in the country's capital, Islamabad, to face charges in multiple graft cases. Khan was dragged outside the Islamabad High Court and pushed into a police vehicle by agents from the National Accountability Bureau, according to a senior official from Khan's party. Protests erupted across the country on Tuesday after Khan was arrested.
