Heavy clashes rock Khartoum despite truce
Strikes from the air, tanks and artillery shook Sudan's capital Khartoum on Friday and heavy bombardment pounded the adjacent city of Bahri, witnesses said, even though the army and a rival paramilitary force agreed to extend a truce by 72 hours. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces shot at a Turkish evacuation plane as it was landing at Wadi Seyidna airport outside Khartoum, damaging its fuel system, Sudan's army said.

NYC transit agency ends Twitter alerts
New York City's Metropolitan Transit Agency, which for 14 years has provided real-time information on service outages, delays and other important transit updates for its 1.3 million Twitter followers, will no longer do so. It said on Thursday that "Twitter is no longer reliable for providing the consistent updates riders expect". Twitter has long been a way for people to keep track of train delays, news and weather alerts or the latest crime warnings from their local police department.
