The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has urged Tencent to improve its safety production management system, ensure smooth functioning of its network operation and avoid major production accidents.

The remarks came after Tencent's WeChat services showed some abnormalities on March 29.

WeChat said on Friday the issues were due to the failure of support facilities, and the company has quickly formed a special team to solve the problem and punished responsible staff members.

Tencent will continue to improve product safety and management and will firmly promote the safe and stable operation of the platform, it said.
