Xiong'an New Area reaches 6th anniversary

Large-scale construction has been accelerated across Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province, as the area reaches its sixth anniversary, which falls on Saturday.
Located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, Xiong'an was set up in April 2017 as a new economic zone and key development hub in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It was designed to play a leading role shifting non-capital functions from Beijing.
Over the past six years, more than 510 billion yuan ($74 billion) has been invested in 240 key projects in the area.
The Rongdong section, the first in Xiong'an, has basically completed construction, while the area's Startup section, which is larger than Rongdong, has completed its major infrastructure, according to the area's administrative committee.
Construction has also begun for some small towns with special features and beautiful villages, with the goal of integrating urban and rural development.
With all the construction, a new city has emerged and has attracted many large enterprises, as well as universities and medical institutions.
State-owned enterprises have set up more than 140 institutions in the Xiong'an area.
