In Shanxi, herb farmers use plastic for better yields

With the start of Awakening of Insects, the third solar term of the traditional Chinese solar calendar, on March 6, farmers in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, have begun spring plowing.

In Xiwadi village of Wenxi county, farmers are using plastic film on the vast land for planting Chinese medicinal herbs, making for unique views.

The plastic conserves soil moisture and preserves seedling quality, which can help farmers increase yields and incomes.
