Dalian Port in Northeast China has imported 25,000 tons of Chilean cherries so far this year, soaring 150 percent year-on-year, thanks to its direct shipping route to import cherries from South American countries.

As a popular winter fruit, Chilean cherries are increasingly favored by Chinese consumers, and the market demand continues to rise, becoming an iconic product of China's import fruits.

On January 11, the port opened the direct shipping route. Cherries have been directly shipped here, and some were then shipped to the Republic of Korea (ROK).

The seasonal route has shorten the shipping time from 40 to 22 days, and with cold-chain transportation, customers in northern China areas have enjoyed fresher fruit.

The direct route has further enhanced the port's collection and distribution services for South American fruit.
