China expresses opposition to 'disruptive technology strike force'

China firmly opposes groundless accusations made by some in the United States, as demonstrated during the establishment of a "new disruptive technology strike force" last week, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
On Feb 16, the US' Department of Justice and Department of Commerce announced the creation of a joint Disruptive Technology Strike Force, which, it claimed, intends to strengthen supply chains while alleging countries of concern include China, Iran, Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The strike force focuses on technologies related to supercomputing and exascale computing, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing equipment and materials, quantum computing and biosciences.
China has always attached great importance to intellectual property protection, Shu Jueting, spokeswomen of the Ministry of Commerce, said during a news conference in Beijing on Thursday.
China supports normal international technical exchange and cooperation, and is committed to improving people's living standards through technological progress, she said.
In recent years, the United States has generalized the concept of national security and abuses measures such as export controls to interfere with technical cooperation between enterprises by using administrative power, which disturbs regular market order, destroys the security of global industrial and supply chains and hinders the recovery and growth of the world economy, she said.
The US should stop smearing and suppressing China and help create a favorable atmosphere for the overall stability of Sino-US economic and trade relations, she added.
