Chongqing-based Changan Auto has set ambitious goals as the State-owned carmaker speeds up its electrification drive.

The carmaker is planning to launch 12 brand-new models under three marques of Changan, Deepal as well as Avatr, a premium brand co-built by Changan in partnership with Huawei and CATL.

The new models are expected to help Changan scale up its sales to 2.8 million units this year, up 20 percent from its 2022 sales of 2.34 million units, said the carmaker.

Changan announced the goals at a company event held last week. At the same event, it unveiled the hybrid technology iDD, which stands for intelligent dual drive, and three new hybrid models.

By 2025, the group's sales will reach 4 million vehicles a year, said Chairman Zhu Huarong.

Of them, sales of Changan-branded vehicles will reach 3 million units and NEVs will account 35 percent.

The group's total sales are expected to rise further and reach 5 million units a year by 2030. Sales of Changan-branded vehicles will reach 4 million units and NEVs will make up 60 percent in the year.
