Chinese clean-energy firms bask in limelight at CES
LAS VEGAS — Chinese clean-energy companies took the spotlight at the CES, the just-concluded consumer electronics show in Las Vegas that served as a platform for their innovative products.
Clean energy and energy storage solutions featured prominently at the show, which ended on Sunday.
Jackery, a pioneer in the portable power industry with factories in the southern Chinese tech hub of Shenzhen, unveiled innovative portable solar generators in Las Vegas.
Its Solar Generator 3000 Pro, capable of producing a maximum of 8,500 watt-hours per day, can provide backup power for five days of outdoor adventures or home emergencies.
Jackery bagged four CES 2023 Innovation Awards for products.
"The pandemic has changed people's lifestyles. A lot of people prefer outdoor activities. Portable solar power generators can offer power for RVs, electric appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, and barbecue ovens while they are outdoors," said Jack Sun, founder and chairman of Jackery.
Jackery's solar power generators feature zero emissions and are safe and shock-resistant, he said.
The need to combat global warming has spurred calls for efforts to promote renewable energy and that presents opportunities for the clean-energy industry.
EcoFlow, another Chinese portable power and renewable energy company, introduced its whole-home backup power solution and new smart devices at the show, including solar-powered robotic lawn-sweeping mowers, portable air conditioners and fridges.
"Rising power bills and extreme weather events have created an increasingly unstable energy situation for many people around the world. The pandemic also created a surge of interest in camping and other outdoor events," said Brian Essenmacher, EcoFlow's head of business development.
Brian Beck, who was visiting from Anaheim, California, showed great interest in Chinese-made solar power generators. He said he is a beach lover and always drives his recreational vehicle to the beach at weekends. "These portable generators are small-sized, convenient and highly efficient, and are very competitive," he said.
