Shanghai plans to boost 5G coverage
China's financial hub Shanghai is expected to have over 77,000 5G base stations by the end of 2023 as part of the city's efforts to boost 5G coverage, local authorities said. More than 4,000 commercial buildings and major public buildings will achieve indoor 5G coverage, and 90 percent of the city will have access to 5G services by the end of next year, according to an action plan released by the Shanghai Communications Administration.
Sinopec, QatarEnergy ink LNG agreement
China Petrochemical Corp said on Monday that the company has signed a 27-year liquefied natural gas sales and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy. Qatar will send China Petrochemical Corp, also known as Sinopec and the world's largest refiner by volume, 4 million metric tons of LNG a year starting in 2026, it said. The gas for Sinopec will come from the North Field East expansion. It will be China's longest LNG supply agreement to date, according to data from BloombergNEF.
