Car sales up 7%in Oct to 2.51m units

Carmakers sold 2.51 million vehicles last month, up 6.9 percent year-on-year, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday. Total sales in the first 10 months this year reached 21.98 million units in China, up 4.6 percent year-on-year. Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of the CAAM, said total sales this year are likely to reach 27 million units, which will mark a 3 percent rise over 2021.

Airbus begins A321 assembly in Tianjin

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said on Wednesday it has started assembling the A321 single-aisle aircraft at its assembly line in Tianjin. The first A321 aircraft is scheduled for delivery in early 2023. The breakthrough expands and deepens Airbus' collaboration with China's aviation industry, and shows its commitment to enhance long-term strategic partnership with China, the company said. The A321, the largest member of the A320 family, now serves as Airbus' narrowbody aircraft with the strongest demand globally.

CR24 starts work on key rail stretch

China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp Ltd (CR24), a unit of State-owned enterprise China Railway Construction Corp, said construction work of a rail section located in Shouxian county, Huainan, Anhui province, linking Xinqiao International Airport and Xinqiao industrial park, has begun. Part of Line S1 of Hefei's urban rail system, the section, with a total length of 47.5 kilometers and 14 stations, has a designated speed of 120 kilometers per hour and is planned to facilitate urban trips and ease traffic congestion in the provincial capital.

Report: Instant retail to top 1 trillion yuan

China's instant retail market has been growing at a fast clip in recent years, and is likely to exceed 1 trillion yuan ($138 billion) by 2026, a report estimated. The emerging retail business, which features fast delivery, usually within an hour of online to offline orders, saw its market scale expand by about 81 percent in the past five years, according to the report released by the China Chain-Store & Franchise Association.
