Arms of Unicom, Tencent in content JV

The State Administration for Market Regulation has approved China Unicom, a major telecom operator, and Tencent Holdings, a prominent internet firm, to set up a 48:52 joint venture, through their venture capital arms. The venture will focus on content distribution and edge computing.

Renewable energy capacity rises 8%

China's installed capacity of renewable energy grew 8 percent year-on-year to 2.48 billion kilowatts in the first nine months of this year, amid the pursuit of green development, according to the National Energy Administration. Wind power's installed capacity increased 17 percent year-on-year to around 350 million KW, while solar power's installed capacity came in at 360 million kilowatts, up 29 percent.

Jan-Sept farm produce trade up 10%

Foreign trade in China's farm produce grew more than 10 percent year-on-year to $248.51 billion in the first three quarters of this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Exports jumped 21.5 percent over the same period last year, while imports rose 6.4 percent. Industrial added value of China's farm sector rose 4.2 percent year-on-year during the period. Consumption in the country's rural areas also quickened, with the retail sales of consumer goods rising 0.9 percent year-on-year between January and September.

Railway logistics get boost for Double 11

China's railway stations are stepping up logistics services to meet the usually surging delivery demand during the annual Singles Day online shopping bonanza. And 31 railway stations have developed high-speed railway express delivery services for this year's online shopping season, adding up the community's tally to 280 stations nationwide. Meanwhile, various express services catering to cold chains and different delivery-speed demands are available. These services will last from Tuesday to Nov 20, the peak delivery period for the popular shopping festival.
