A view to a kill

This is the familiar stuff of American crime series, made unique by the fact that it's a homegrown true crime. In Ho's film version — which sees the culprits' surnames changed — the introverted Henry Cheung (Yeung Wai-leun, who had a supporting role in 2021's Zero to Hero) befriends the insecure and (possibly) mentally challenged Angus Tong (theater actor Mak Pui-tung, whose performance earned him the Best Actor gong at the 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival in August) at a job interview and suggests they grab dinner. Before you know it, Angus is in thrall to Henry and agrees to help kill his parents for their flat. The men are arrested and go to trial. Henry is sentenced to life in prison and Angus acquitted. Case closed.
