IC sales in 2021 exceed 1 trillion yuan
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Wednesday that China's integrated circuit exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($144.3 billion) in sales for the first time last year. The compound growth of the sector reached 17 percent from 2018 to 2021, more than three times the global average growth rate.
Mobile IoT links reach nearly 1.7b
China's mobile internet of things has made remarkable progress in network and industrial capability, as well as application development, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. By the end of August, the number of mobile IoT connections in China had reached 1.698 billion, surpassing the number of mobile phone users for the first time. During the same period, the total number of narrowband IoT, 4G base stations, and 5G base stations had reached 755,000, 5.9 million, and 2.1 million, respectively, data from the ministry showed. A network infrastructure pattern featuring coordinated development of multiple networks, universal coverage of urban and rural areas and deep coverage of key scenarios has taken shape, the ministry said.
Key highway work makes progress
China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp Ltd, a unit of China Railway Construction Corp, said recently that its tunneling work at Zhongbao county for the second Chongqing-Hunan highway, of which 80 percent of projects are tunneling work, is nearing completion. The tunneling work is expected to be completed later this month, laying a solid foundation for an earlier-than-expected opening of the highway. Comprising three major sections, the second Chongqing-Hunan highway has a total length of 280 km, and is planned to address long-standing highway congestion between the two provincial-level regions, and facilitate travel to cities along the route, which boast many tourism attractions.
