Las Vegas race added to F1's 2023 calendar
Formula 1 provisionally added a first race in Las Vegas to the 2023 schedule announced on Tuesday, taking the total to a record 24.
The season will start in Bahrain on March 5 and finish in Abu Dhabi, more than nine months later on Nov 26.
Las Vegas will be the penultimate round as F1 quickly adds a third race in the United States after Miami joined the schedule this season.
The Las Vegas race is subject to "homologation", or official approval of the circuit by FIA, motor sports' global governing body.
The Chinese Grand Prix, last raced in 2019, returns as does the Qatar Grand Prix at Losail, which made its debut in 2021 but is not being raced this year.
The French GP, first raced in 1906, making it the oldest F1 grand prix, is dropped. It was previously dropped between 2009 and 2017 before returning at Le Castellet.
The Sochi Grand Prix, scratched this year following the Russia-Ukraine conflict, does not return. Two races considered under threat-Belgium and Monaco-are retained.

Bruins' Big Zee hangs up his skates at 45
The player the NHL knew as "Big Zee" is calling it a career.
Zdeno Chara signed a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins and announced his retirement Tuesday after 24 seasons in the NHL and captaining Boston to the Stanley Cup in 2011.
The 6-foot-9 (2.06-meter) defenseman from Slovakia hangs up his skates at age 45, surrendering the title of the league's oldest active player.
He returned to TD Garden to end his two years after leaving the Bruins following 14 seasons with the team. The proclamation printed on his ceremonial final contract spoke to his longevity in the sport.
"You guys want to know what it says?" he asked the assembled crowd after signing. "Zdeno must agree to keep himself in good shape and physical condition at all times post-retirement."
Chara called returning to the city of his biggest NHL triumphs to mark the end of his time on the ice "surreal".

LIV players push for world ranking inclusion
LIV Golf is turning up the heat on the Official World Golf Ranking, asking in a letter to chairman Peter Dawson that its results be included retroactively in the ranking.
LIV Golf, which has 48-man fields that play 54 holes with a shotgun start each day, applied to be included in the world ranking on July 6.
Among the requirements to receive world ranking points is for a new tour to comply with the guidelines for at least one year before it gets admitted. The Saudi-funded league did not play its first tournament until June 9.
Dawson, the former Royal &Ancient chief executive, spoke last month on Golf Channel about the new formula for the OWGR, though he declined to speak specifically about the LIV Golf application.
The letter sent Friday to Dawson was signed by all 48 players in the LIV Golf Invitational-Chicago tournament, along with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, who has signed with LIV but is not expected to start playing until next year.

Judge's 60th homer sparks Yankees rally
Aaron Judge hit his 60th home run and Giancarlo Stanton followed minutes later with a game-ending grand slam, completing the New York Yankees' stunning five-run, ninth-inning rally to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-8 on Tuesday night.
Judge moved within one of Roger Maris' American League record when he turned on a sinker from right-hander Wil Crowe (5-10) and drove it 430 feet (131 meters) into the left-field bleachers, pulling New York within 8-5.
Judge matched the 60 home runs Babe Ruth hit for the 1927 Yankees to set a big-league record that stood for 37 years. It came off a pitcher whose great, great uncle, Hall of Famer Red Ruffing, was Ruth's teammate on the Yankees in the 1930s.
Stanton, mired in a 9-for-72 slump, lined a slam off Crowe to make a winner of Aroldis Chapman (3-3) and set off a raucous celebration at Yankee Stadium.
Roger Maris Jr. and Kevin Maris, sons of the former player, were both on hand.

Suarez linked with switch to LA Galaxy
Veteran striker Luis Suarez is in talks about a possible move to the Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, according to media reports in Uruguay.
The 35-year-old's contract with Montevideo outfit Nacional is due to expire in November, meaning he would be free to join the Californian side as a free agent the following month.
Reports said the Galaxy viewed Suarez as an ideal replacement for Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, the Mexican former Manchester United striker who is expected to leave the club in December.
Nacional president Jose Fuentes confirmed on Tuesday that the former Liverpool and Barcelona star Suarez would not extend his existing contract. "When the championship ends, Luis Suarez will leave Nacional. I am not going to generate false expectations," Fuentes told the Punto Penal television program.
Suarez has scored four goals and provided three assists in 10 matches since rejoining his original club as a free agent in July.
