The Georgian national freestyle wrestling team has claimed four medals at the world championships in Belgrade.
The national wrestling federation said Givi Macharashvili (97 kg) and Zurab Iakobashvili (70 kg) had earned two of the medals in the contest.
Mirian Maisuradze (92 kg) and Geno Petriashvili (125) completed the haul by adding two more bronzes in their respective weight categories.
Georgian freestyle wrestler Zurab Iakobishvili won a gold medal at the 2022 European Championships in Hungary’s capital Budapest on Tuesday.
Nine out of the ten Georgian freestyle wrestlers have grabbed four gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the 47th Annual Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France featuring over 300 athletes from 26 different nations between January 14-18.
Another Georgian freestyle wrestler Beka Lomtadze won the world championship in Kazakhstan today. Lomtadze, 27, has defeated his Russian rival Magomedrasul Idrisov in the 61kg category.
Georgian freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili has won the world championship for the third time today in Kazakhstan. Petriashvili, 25, has defeated his Turkish rival Taha Akgul in the 125kg category.
Georgia is among the top five countries that have qualified for the Men’s Freestyle Wrestling World Cup in the United States, the Georgian wrestling federation announced on Tuesday.
Georgian freestyle wrestler Givi Matcharashvili on Tuesday claimed gold at the European Wrestling Championships in Zagreb.
