The 24th China Mining Conference and Exhibition will run online from Sept 21 to 23 under the theme of "Sustainable mining for sustainable economic growth", said China Mining Association on Friday.

Hosted by the CMA, this year's conference has invited officials from 11 countries, including Argentina, South Africa, Peru, Sudan and Serbia, to attend the opening ceremony online, and executives from major mining companies such as Rio Tinto as well as institutes such as International Council on Mining and Metals will deliver speeches.

Discussions will focus on hot issues of mining development at home and abroad, including the supply and demand situation of minerals, the relationship between sustainable development of the mining industry and economic growth, and the summary of new concepts and practices of mining development, said Peng Qiming, president of the association.

It aims to create an international exchange platform for participating countries, institutions and enterprises to promote themselves, know more partners, develop cooperative relations and provide services, said Peng.

"The conference's theme closely links to the current trends of global and China's mining development. It is committed to underlining mining's role in ensuring energy security and promoting economic development," he said.

The conference will leverage internet technologies to enable more enterprises and guests to share their thoughts and experiences. The content of the conference will be presented online through images, word descriptions, videos, livestreaming, and virtual reality technologies, on the China Mining Conference and Exhibition Cloud Platform. Through the platform exhibitors and participants can hold online conversations, change business cards, exhibit products and leave comments, CMA said.
