Huge crowds gather in Edinburgh for Queen's cortege

On Monday Sept 12, King Charles III led a procession behind his mother’s coffin from the palace to Edinburgh’s St Giles' Cathedral. Tens of thousands of mourners lined the route along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

The country is in a period of national mourning until after the queen's funeral on Monday Sept 19, which has been confirmed as a public holiday in the UK.
