Anhui trade up 173% over 10-year period
East China's Anhui province has seen a notable expansion in foreign trade over the past decade. In the 10-year period from 2012 to 2021, the province's goods trade value climbed 172.5 percent from $39.3 billion to $107.1 billion, with an average annual increase of 11.8 percent, said Fang Xu, director of the provincial commerce department. Foreign direct investment in Anhui expanded from $1.36 billion in 2012 to $1.83 billion in 2021. The province has seen an improving trade structure.
Throughput of containers increases
China's container throughput rose 11 percent year-on-year to 26.36 million twenty-foot equivalent units or TEUs in July, data from the Ministry of Transport showed. The growth rate was 4.7 percentage points higher than that in June. In July, China's container throughput at ports increased 5.7 percent year-on-year to 1.34 billion tonnes, reversing a 2.3 percent decline in June. China's investment in transportation fixed assets reached 330.9 billion yuan ($48.28 billion) in July, up 4.1 percent year-on-year.
Yunnan reports 439m tourist visits
Southwest China's Yunnan province recorded 439 million tourist visits during the first seven months of this year, or 93.2 percent of the level for the same period in 2019, the last year before the COVID-19 pandemic brokeout. Tourism revenue from January to July totaled 495.68 billion yuan ($72.32 billion), or 80 percent of that in 2019, the provincial culture and tourism department said.
Ikea to boost operations in China
Global home furnishing giant Ikea said it is committed to long-term development in China and will further increase investment in the Chinese market in the new fiscal year. Ingka Group, the parent group of Ikea, will invest 5.3 billion yuan ($773.32 million) in China in the fiscal year from Sept 1, 2022 to Aug 31, 2023, Ikea China said. The company has invested some 10 billion yuan in the Chinese market in the past three years.
