Smart China Expo kicks off in Chongqing

The Smart China Expo 2022 kicked off in Chongqing municipality on Monday morning.

Themed "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life", the expo, which is scheduled to run until Wednesday, focuses on smart cities.

Because of the continuing heat wave and pandemic, the event is being held online. A series of activities such as online exhibitions, forums, negotiations and signings will be held, according to the event organizing committee.

The expo was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Chongqing government.

A wide range of guests, including foreign Nobel Prize and Turing Award winners, Chinese academics, experts and representatives from leading domestic internet and tech giants — such as Huawei Technologies Co, Alibaba Group and Changan Auto — made speeches on smart cities in a summit after the opening ceremony.

The expo has been successfully held for four times since the first one in 2018. As the highlight of the SCE, the Key Projects Online Signing Ceremony has attracted attention from all walks of life.
