Some 90 percent of UK residents aged 18 to 24 are watching streaming services on a daily basis, with the age group now tuning in for one-seventh of the terrestrial TV seen by the over-65s, according to a report from media regulator Ofcom.
Viewers aged between 16 and 24 spend 53 minutes a day on average watching traditional broadcast TV, which is down two-thirds on a decade ago. And 93 percent of people aged 15 to 17 are getting daily short-form videos from YouTube, 90 percent from Instagram, and 73 percent from TikTok.
"The streaming revolution is stretching the TV generation gap, creating a stark divide in the viewing habits of younger and older people," said Ian Macrae, director of market intelligence at Ofcom.
