Furniture makers see rising profits
China's major furniture manufacturers reported rising profits in the first half of the year, official data showed. During the period, total profits of major Chinese furniture enterprises stood at 17.48 billion yuan ($2.6 billion), up 2.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The combined operating revenue of those companies declined 4 percent from a year ago to 360.4 billion yuan. Major furniture manufacturers are companies with annual operating revenue of at least 20 million yuan.
Tesla Shanghai factory achieves milestone
US carmaker Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has produced 1 million vehicles in three years, setting a milestone, the company said on Monday. Established in 2019, Tesla's Shanghai plant is the carmaker's first Gigafactory outside the United States, with an industrial chain localization rate of more than 95 percent-and 99.99 percent of the employees are Chinese. The factory, an important export center for Tesla, exported 97,182 automobiles in the January-June period, compared to the 41,770 units in the same period last year, according to Tesla China.
