Cargo throughput on Yangtze River up
Major ports on the Yangtze, China's longest river, posted a total throughput of 2.02 billion metric tons of cargo in the first seven months of this year, up 1 percent year-on-year, according to navigation authorities. The throughput of twenty-foot equivalent unit or TEU containers shipped via the ports in the period reached 13.67 million tons, up 6 percent year-on-year, said the administration of navigational affairs on the Yangtze River under the Ministry of Transport. The east-west inland waterway is regarded as the country's "golden shipping route".
Furnishing industry gets development plan
China has published a plan to support the high-quality development of the home furnishing industry, in a bid to give full play to its important role in expanding domestic demand. The country aims to cultivate 15 high-level home furnishing industry clusters with different characteristics and build 500 smart experience centers by 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The plan, jointly released by the ministry and three other government departments, also detailed measures to develop green, smart and healthy home furnishings, to better fulfill the need for a convenient, safe and cozy environment at home.
