New metro train does double duty

A new intercity metro line went into operation in Chongqing on Saturday, the first double-current type in China.

The train, developed and produced by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co in Jilin province, can take passengers on a single trip between Shengquan Temple Station in Jiangjin district and Tiaodeng Station in Dadukou district in 28 minutes. By car, the 26-kilometer trip requires at least 40 minutes.
