Lucid ganoderma is an important traditional Chinese medicine, said Zhu Jianquan, the principal of the park.

"The rapid development of the Chinese medicine industry in recent years has provided it more space to develop," he said. "After inspection, we found there were more diverse demands for the herb. Its products, such as oral liquid and health tea, have become more popular with consumers."

The industrial park has attracted 47 local farmers, most of them young, he said. It is expected to produce 250 metric tons of plants and 150 tons of spore powder from all 1,000 greenhouses, which may achieve a profit of 16 million yuan."
