Anhui GDP rises 3% in first half
East China's Anhui province saw its gross domestic product grow 3 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year, reaching 2.17 trillion yuan ($321.3 billion), according to local statistics authorities. The added value of the province's primary industry was 127.88 billion yuan, up 5 percent; that of the secondary industry was 939.28 billion yuan, up 3.8 percent; and the corresponding tertiary industry figure was nearly 1.11 trillion yuan, up 2.1 percent. The province's import and export value hit 367.58 billion yuan, up 13.7 percent year-on-year.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 60 pips to 6.7483 against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
