Bolsonaro announces candidacy for president
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday officially announced his intent to seek reelection and named former defense minister Walter Souza Braga Netto as his intended vice-president. Bolsonaro highlighted his role in improving the agricultural sector and infrastructure with the building of highways and railways. If no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote by Oct 2, a second electoral round is scheduled for Oct 30.

2 killed, 5 injured in Los Angeles shooting
Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting at a park in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. At around 3:45 pm, officers received numerous radio calls of a shooting in progress near the baseball field at Peck Park, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Officers responded and located multiple victims. The LA Fire Department said at least three people suffered gunshot wounds and two of them were in critical condition.
KENYA
At least 30 passengers die in bus crash
At least 30 passengers were killed and several others injured on Sunday evening when their bus fell off a bridge and plunged into a river along the highway in Tharaka Nithi, Kenya, local police said. The bus, traveling from Meru town to the coastal city of Mombasa, plunged into the Nithi River about 40 meters below along the Meru-Nairobi highway, Eastern Regional Police said on Monday.
