The Terrence Higgins Trust has urged the National Health Service and the UK Health Security Agency to urgently pump cash into the provision of vaccines to curb the monkeypox outbreak.
The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV has estimated that at least 125,000 people will need a double dose of the smallpox vaccine.
During the latest WHO news briefing, monkeypox was described as a "moderate" risk globally and a "high" risk in Europe with "a clear risk of further international spread".
