Students take wedding photos voluntarily
Since 2015, a group of students from the Wuhan University of Engineering Science have traveled to over 30 regions and provinces in the country to take wedding photos for elderly couples.
In the past eight years, they have taken over 40,000 photos for over 1,400 couples.
"You are just as beautiful as when we just got married," said Zhao Xinguo to his wife in white dress.
When the team approached Zhao and his wife Li Luanjiao in 2019, it was their 48th anniversary.
A veteran from Huanggang, Hubei province, Zhao and Li lived separately when they just got married. And to take wedding photo was not as common as now.
In 1982, Li was diagnosed with rheumatism, and she was not able to walk due to a stroke she suffered later.
Zhao cooked meals for Li every day, walked her for a while under sunshine and chatted with neighbors. "As long as I am alive, I will continue take care of her," Zhao said.
"I was deeply touched by their love story and especially grandpa Zhao's attitudes of love," said Zhao Chen, a member of the team, when they revisited the couple this July.
Many of the couples are veteran families, retired teachers, former government employees and also inheritors of intangible cultural heritages.
As summer break began, the team is now traveling again and taking photos for free for elderly couples to capture their moments.
