JD Cloud, the cloud computing unit of Chinese tech giant JD, is doubling down on the digitalized and intelligent supply chain system as part of its broader push to improve delivery efficiency and reduce operational costs.

The company released a series of cutting-edge technologies including an internet of things platform, automatic supply chain, intelligent robots and warehouse dispatching system as well as large-scale computing clusters during the JD Cloud Summit in Beijing on Wednesday.

Gao Liqiang, vice-president of JD and president of JD Cloud, said the business unit has served more than 80 cities, over 1,800 large enterprises and more than 1.95 million small and micro enterprises. The revenue from JD Cloud surged more than 110 percent year-on-year in 2021, Gao added.

In addition, JD Cloud has rolled out a digital human platform, intelligent customer service system and industrial internet platform to promote the digital transformation and upgrading of traditional industries such as retail, logistics and manufacturing.

The boom in traditional enterprises' digital transformation has increased the demand for cloud computing services according to a report from Canalys, a global technology market analysis company.

The consultancy expects the cloud infrastructure market in the Chinese mainland to reach US$85 billion by 2026, representing a five-year compound annual growth rate of 25 percent.
