Summer of LOVELOVELOVE, the inaugural edition of the LOVELOVELOVE Biennale of Moving Images — a joint effort by U2 by UCCA and Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève — has opened to the public at U2's venue in Beijing.

On show are videos and animated works by over 20 artists at home and from abroad addressing self-identity, freedom, family, genders and the passage of time.

The exhibition encourages discussions centering love as an absence, an ambition, a form of tension, a type of rituals and a distance to be bridged, according to Andrea Bellini, director of the Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève.

Part of the works were commissioned for and shown at the Biennale de l'Image en Mouvement, an event which serves as platform for the production and experimentation in the moving image medium and organized by the Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève since 2014.

U2's CEO Xu Ning said the COVID-19 pandemic has changed people's lives, and made people feel that connections between individuals are more precious. He said the event is expected to bring faith and hope to people at the moment of difficulties.

The exhibition lasts until Dec 25.
