NEARLY 80M HOLIDAY TRIPS

China's three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which ended on June 5, saw a total of 79.61 million domestic tourist trips, according to projections by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Revenue from domestic tourism during the holiday was 25.82 billion yuan ($3.87 billion), noted the ministry. The cultural and tourism market during the holiday has maintained a safe, stable and orderly operation generally, the ministry said.

RETAIL, SERVICES SALES BOOM

China's sales of consumer goods and services expanded year-on-year during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, and catering and hospitality sectors posted substantial recovery, official data showed. Retail sales nationwide during the three-day holiday climbed 9.5 percent year-on-year, said the State Tax Administration. Sales of services grew 12.9 percent over 2021, led by housekeeping with a 27.4 percent surge, the data showed. The holiday also saw sales in the catering and hospitality sectors restored to 83.8 percent and 92 percent of last year's level, respectively.

COOKING WALK-THROUGH ONLINE

Chefs at the Crowne Plaza Beijing Zhongguancun have launched online cookery lessons. They are sharing their culinary skills by livestreaming their kitchen processes and putting related training videos online. During the latest round of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel invited celebrities to the livestreams, which were hosted by its staff members, to increase its profile. It also offered various sales options to seek new market opportunities.

Conrad Shenyang announced it has won the 2021 Connie Award in the Asia-Pacific region as the highest hotel award among Hilton Group's Conrad brand. The hotel in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, opened in September 2019 and is located in the heart of the historical city that was home to the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
