In the US, 44 states still allow child marriages, with conditions like parental or judicial consent. Nine states still have no minimum age at all, and in others children as young as 12 are allowed to marry adults. The US considers child marriage a violation of human rights and has campaigned against it elsewhere, but such horror is still legal in the US.
